The Story

An oasis you can swim in.

The drive to Kikuletwa passes through dry, dusty countryside, which makes the arrival feel almost unreal. Suddenly there are tall trees, deep shade and a pool of clear blue water fed by springs beneath the ground. The contrast is the whole point: heat and dust on one side, cool green and shimmering water on the other.

The water is clear enough that you can see far down into it, and it is warm and inviting, not cold and shocking. Locals and travellers alike come to swim, float and rest under the trees. Rope swings and shaded banks make it playful, while the surrounding quiet makes it restful.

It is not a place with a checklist. It is a place to let the day loosen. After a long hike, a cultural visit or a run of early mornings, this is where a trip exhales. Bring a swimsuit, a snack and nowhere else to be.
